F.A.Q.

Q:  I've never had a professional massage before,  what should I wear?

A: We ask all of our clients to undress to their level of comfort.  Now usually, most clients will undress to their underwear.  Women will need to remove their bras so we can have full access to the back.  You will be under a sheet/ towel the entire massage.  The only part of your body that will be exposed, will be the part we are working on.

Q: Everytime I get a massage, my stomach growls....why is that?

A: One of the effects of massage is increased circulation...now through this increased circulation, massage therapy will stimulate the digestion process causing the stomach to release the digestive juices that break down your food, as well as stimulate peristalsis which is the contract/relax phase of the intestines to move the digested food through the remaining part of the digestive process.

Q:  Do I tip my massage therapist?

A: Tipping for massage therapy brings mixed opinions.  I will address both.  First of all, many massage therapist are now becoming an integral part of many health and wellness programs.  Some people feel that they would not tip their doctor or dentist and therefore should not tip their massage therapist.  However tipping is considered a reward for a good job.  Massage therapy is still considered a personal service and therefore tipping is appropriate if you feel the therapist did a good job.  A good tip is considered 15-20%.

Q: Does hot stone massage hurt/burn?

A: Absolutely not.  The stones are heated to approximately to 120 degrees.  Thats about as warm as a hot shower.  However communication is key here because every person is different in how they perceive heat. So if ever the stones feel too warm, just let your therapist know so that she can remove the stone and reduce the heat on the heater.  A fresh stone will never be placed on the body without movement. It will always sit upon a towel or sheet which allows the heat to slowly reach the muscles without burning the skin.
